Licence
It's free for personal use, anywhere in the world. Companies and schools need a separate agreement, so get in touch.
End User Licence Agreement
Between Ojasvi Yadav ("I", "me") and you. If you install or use Learning Harness (the "App"), you accept these terms. If you don't accept them, don't use the App.
1. Free personal use
I give you a free, worldwide, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and run the App on Macs you control, for Personal Use.
Personal Use means a person using the App for their own learning. It includes:
- independent study and hobbies;
- your own coursework, even if your school charges tuition;
- preparing for a job or an exam you want;
- upskilling on your own, even on a work computer.
2. Use that needs a separate agreement
These uses need a signed Commercial and Institutional Use Agreement with me, even if you charge nobody and even if you are one freelancer:
- using the App for client work or for your paid professional duties;
- training that an employer requires or provides;
- a company or other organisation deploying the App for its staff;
- a school, teacher or institution using the App to deliver lessons or installing it for a class, including nonprofit institutions.
The purpose decides which section applies, not the device or the place. A beta label doesn't give you these rights. Write to hello@learningharness.org.
3. What you may not do
You may not:
- sell, rent, lend, sublicense or redistribute the App or your invite code;
- copy the App, except for normal installation, updates and backups;
- reverse engineer the App, except where the law gives you that right and it can't be limited;
- remove licence, copyright or attribution notices;
- use the App to break the law or the terms of an AI service.
4. Third-party components
The App includes third-party components. Each one keeps its own licence, listed in the App, and nothing here limits the rights those licences give you.
5. Your accounts and your content
You need your own ChatGPT or Claude account, and that provider's terms apply to it. Your messages and the learning details the tutor needs go to that provider. You keep your rights in what you put into the App. Your study data stays on your Mac. Usage statistics are described at the usage statistics page.
6. Ownership
I and my licensors own the App. This agreement gives you a licence and doesn't sell you anything. If you send me feedback, I may use it without paying you or owing you anything.
7. Updates and availability
The App may update itself. I may change or stop it at any time. A closed beta can have faults and can lose data, so keep backups of anything you care about.
8. No guarantee of learning
The App is a study tool. AI tutors make mistakes. Check anything important, above all medical, legal, financial or safety information. I promise no result from an exam, job or course.
9. No warranty
As far as the law allows, the App comes as is, with no warranty of any kind, including merchantability, fitness for a purpose and non-infringement.
10. Limit of liability
As far as the law allows, I am not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for lost data, profit or goodwill. My total liability under this agreement is limited to the amount you paid me for the App, which for Personal Use is zero. Nothing here limits liability that the law doesn't allow me to limit.
11. Ending this agreement
You can end this agreement by deleting the App. It ends by itself if you break it and don't fix that within 30 days of my written notice. Sections 6, 9, 10 and 13 continue after it ends.
12. Changes
I may change these terms by shipping a new version with the App or posting it on learningharness.org. If you keep using the App after that, the new terms apply. If you don't accept them, stop using it.
13. Law and courts
The laws of India apply, and the courts of Gurugram, Haryana have exclusive jurisdiction. This doesn't remove consumer rights that you have where you live and that can't be waived.
